Fathom Water Launches FPC-140, a Pre-Engineered MVR Crystallizer for Zero Liquid Discharge
Developed to accelerate time to operations, reduce capital cost, and maximize uptime
Seattle, WA, September 15, 2026 – Fathom Water Corporation today announced the commercial launch of the FPC-140, a pre-engineered mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) crystallizer for zero liquid discharge (ZLD) applications. Engineered by Fathom and fabricated in the United States by Samuel EPC, the FPC-140 is delivered to site in under 12 months and ready for commercial operations within 15 months of PO. Traditional, custom-built systems typically complete commissioning 24 or more months after PO.
The crystallizer is historically the most capital-intensive and schedule-critical step in a ZLD system. The FPC-140 removes it as a bottleneck.
The FPC-140 is a forced circulation evaporation process, designed for an evaporation rate of 140 gallons per minute (gpm). Crystallizers at this scale are typically custom-engineered and assembled in the field, exposing projects to budget and schedule risk. However, the FPC-140 is fully pre-engineered with an optimized modular design and manufactured off-site with a compact footprint of ~3,300 square feet.
The base system and its selected options are established before the purchase order is signed. This removes the front-end engineering cycle that drives much of the schedule variability in a conventional crystallizer package, and it means the delivery date is set at award rather than discovered during design.
The FPC-140 is engineered by Fathom with off-site manufacturing by Samuel EPC, a US-based process module fabricator. Fathom and Samuel utilize a module design optimized for total installed cost, moving most man-hours off-site and into the shop. This module design reflects Fathom’s and Samuel’s decades of experience in process module design and fabrication and prepares the installing contractor for success.
Fathom's engineering team has designed, delivered, and commissioned dozens of zero liquid discharge systems across North America, including major projects at HVM semiconductor facilities in Oregon, Arizona, and Texas. Team members bring 20 to 30 years each from industry leaders, such as Siemens, GE, and Veolia. The FPC-140 applies that experience to a standardized system rather than a one-off engineered package.
